"It is good to give thanks to the LORD...to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night." Psalm 92:1-2
With eyes half open I wake to the light shining through my room and with weariness and sleepy eyes I come to Him and open His Word. I wait this morning to hear His voice, as His Light enters into my heart, preparing my heart for what He this new day. He speaks His truth recorded on the pages of a Book written from the beginning of time, recorded in the mind of God and inspired by the Holy Spirit as many were used to pen the Words of God to be given to man...to be given to me this day...a treasure indeed.
"O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch" Psalm 5:3. Prayer is sacrificial, it is laying aside our self for the sake of others, it is laying aside our time to fellowship with Christ. It is in the secret place where our communion with God is so sweet as we "look up" to Him and "look out" praying for others and 'keep on the watch' - in expectation of our prayer's being answered. God is a prayer hearing and prayer answering God. I thank Him this day for answering, and acting mightily on behalf of His children. How He can do nothing less than His perfect will and good work in our lives just as parents who act swiftly and mightily on behalf of their child whose lives depend fully on them and the good a parent intends to do for their child. This is our Father.
I thank the Lord this day for His goodness that He brings to our lives through our children and the grandchildren that He blesses us with. That for 'such a time as this' we have the privilege of training these little ones up to know their Creator, a beautiful ministry as we share the goodness of God and His love for them...how they are "fearfully and wonderfully made".
Although life is messy and complicated at times it is so wonderful and joy fills our hearts as we open our eyes to His goodness that surrounds us...and see life through their eyes. The excitement they bring, the smiles they give, the appreciation they have in just being together with family. It is the little things in life that they bring to our hearts and as we look back the little things become the BIGGEST of things!
I recently noticed a quote that spoke great truth while I was out in the crowds with people busy shopping ......as I could only began thinking of Christmas and what this season would bring as we remember to keep our hearts on the main thing, the birth of Jesus. This time of year has always been our favorite as we prepare our house and our hearts to celebrate the birth of our Savior! While my intentions are good and my memories are so very close to my heart of the Christmas seasons in days gone past....I am still in the process of unpacking and there are still some construction projects still needing to be complete. Despite flaws and imperfect surroundings that are not worthy of Pinterest, the hearts of those we love within the walls of our home are the things that matter most.
The quote said, "The most important work we will ever have to do is found within the walls of our Home".
Such truth, as this is our first work. I am thankful for our children and grandchildren, for the lives of this next generation....for the privilege God has given us to share God's truth with them, to come by their side and train them up for the purposes He has for them. Who although are still young, continue to be vessels for God's glory as I am always reminded of Pauls words to Timothy, " Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example for other believers in your speech, behavior, love, faithfulness, and purity." 1 Timothy 4:12
I thank the Lord for their love, joy, for their hearts that are filled with Christ....for their encouragement they give through their words and deeds. For the many ways God uses their lives to touch me.....for the blessing they are....that even in their youth they must continue to know and be reminded that in Christ "they are complete and fully equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:17
I know that for each of you reading this today, your children and grandchildren bring great blessings to your lives as well. I am praying for each of you, for the ministries God has given you as parents and grandparents and that God will continue to use us all to share God's Word and remind them of His great love that He has for them...I love Esther 4:14 as I think of our lives and the place God has us and the family that He has surrounded us with....that we embrace our lot in life and this day...and recognize that in each moment God gives us with our children and grandchildren we are being used by Him and He has equipped us perfectly for this special work, "perhaps this is the moment for which you have been created".
May our hearts be thankful for the children in our lives who show us how to love this life and find joy even in the regular and mundane routines that come each day....may we pause often and appreciate all that goes on in the walls of our homes and the greatest work it is...in the family God has given us...and we will find that He will truly exceed our expectations as we see their lives as a precious ministry He has given us and entrusted us with. Selah.
